If you are living Lakeside (Lake Chapala area in Jalisco, Mexico) or are thinking about coming here, there are many reasons why you will want to join the Lake Chapala Society as a regular member:

You will be included in our annual LCS Directory— the main source of contact information for Lakeside expatriates (you must have obtained your membership by mid-December, 2008 to be listed in the new 2009 LCS Directory).
You receive a free mail service—LCS members transport US-stamped letters to the United States two or three times each week and mail them there. It's quicker and cheaper!
You will benefit from a free preventative medical program and low-cost medical tests and inoculations.
You will receive discounts on: physician visits, first-class restaurants, and membership in a mega-store—and the discount program is growing.
You will have access to the LCS Library containing over 20,000 English-language books which range from contemporary best-sellers to standard reference works.
You will have access to a collection of over 4,000 videos and DVDs in English (or with English sub-titles), and our Video Library is constantly expanding.
You will be able to post 2 free ads per month on our Classifieds Section on our website www.lakechapalasociety.org

You will be able to post ads on the LCS Bulletin Board located outside of the library

You will be able to rent baby equipment (car seats, high chairs, playpen/baby bed and strollers) when grandchildren come for a visit!

You can participate in an ever-increasing variety of activities (see Daily Schedule), ranging from Beginning Spanish lessons to scrabble.

You will become a part of a community of more than 3,700 of 24 nationalities that makes up the membership of the Lake Chapala Society, ready to offer friendship.

As of July 15th, 2008 a single full year LCS Membership is $400 pesos for one person, regardless of when during the year one joins (it expires on December 31st). A 2-Family Membership is $600 pesos; 3-Family Membership is 800 pesos; and a 4-Family Membership is 1000 pesos through December 31st. If you prepay for the following year at the same time as joining in the current year, membership for the current year will be prorated on a quarterly basis.

LCS also offers an Associate Membership which is charged per person. There is a 3-month Associate Membership for $200 pesos and a 1-month Associate Membership for $100 pesos. Associate Members cannot vote on issues at the LCS or election of officers and do not receive a Directory (they also do not appear n the Directory). As of July 15th, 2008 Associate members may not check out books nor videos.

Membership Fees

To become a member of LCS, simply click on the “JOIN NOW!! ” button below. Complete the Membership Form and you will be redirected automatically to the secure page for PayPal where you can pay with your credit card or your PayPal account. You then only need to stop by the LCS office to pick up your membership card.
