Health Care Designations & Health Care Directives:

What's available for us in Mexico?
Friday, February 24, 2012, 2:00 to 4:00 pm
Lake Chapala Society, Sala

Foreigners living in Mexico can use the Mexican Federal Legislation that allows us to designate persons to make health care decisions for us and allows us to set out 'palliative' health care directives should we be diagnosed with a terminal disease, and expected to live less than 6 months.

In addition, there is new Jalisco State legislation that provides for a limited durable power of attorney and 'curative' health care directives. These provisions are new for the State of Jalisco and a move forward from the Jalisco PODER (power of attorney). The PODER is not durable and expires at the end of 5 years requiring the person be of sound mind and able to make a new PODER.

Attorneys from the firm of Vargas & Espinosa in Guadalajara will present the information and take personal questions after the formal presentation. There is no charge for the presentation that will be in English, with some translation.

The Life Planning in Jalisco project, www.lifeplanninginjalisco.wordpress.com, sponsors the event.
